Dr (Mrs) Siris Patel, MBBS, MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology is Joint Director in Odisha Medical Service, currently working in Sickle Cell Clinic and Molecular Biology Laboratory (Sickle Cell Institute), Odisha sickle cell project, under the National Health Mission, VSS Medical College, Burla, Odisha. Along with her O&G practice, she takes care of the OPD in the Sickle Cell Clinic, doing screening, counseling, investigations, treatment, and follow-ups. The Sickle Cell Institute is the nodal institute for SCD covering SCD-prevalent areas in 2 states (Odisha and Chhatisgarh) of eastern India. She speaks and shares her experiences at CMEs and conferences on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) at the state as well as national level. She was a guest speaker at the 3rd Global Congress on SCD in Bhubaneswar, India. As a gynecologist, she has an interest in female health and SCD, awareness about high-risk pregnancies in SCD patients, their reproductive carrier, fertility, outcomes in pregnancy, and social issues. She is trained in Chorionic Villous Sampling for Prenatal Diagnosis, and a member of sentinel surveillance for newborn screening which will start soon in VSSIMSAR, Burla. Dr. Patel has been Principal Investigator and Co-investigator in multiple DST and DBT projects of India. She has many publications related to women and children with SCD especially related to Pregnancy-related complications in indexed journals.
