Thursday, June 16th 17:32 - 17:50 UTC+2
I am Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the University of Ghana Medical school, and Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist at Korlebu Teaching hospital. I have over 20 years of clinical practice experience with about 12 years in clinical leadership and research in high-risk obstetric. I created the first comprehensive multi-disciplinary obstetric care team for the management of pregnant women with sickle cell disease in Ghana. Within 13 months, our new program reduced maternal mortality and perinatal mortality by 90 and 62% respectively. Some of my research projects in labour management and treatment of postpartum haemorrhage have been funded by the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation and the NIH.
