Molecular and Pathophysiological basis of Vaso-occlusive Crisis in Sickle Cell Disease

Dr. Bisnu Prasad Dash is a Professor of Zoology in the School of Biological Sciences, Asian Institute of Public Health, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India; and Adjunct Professor of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-Regional Medical Research Center (RMRC), Bhubaneswar. Dr. Dash has more than 34 years of research and 20 years teaching experience of Biosciences and Biotechnology fields in several competitive academic institutions of India. He was one of the key contributors in establishing the ICMR's Sickle Cell Research Center at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Medical College Hospital, Burla, Odisha. His group has contributed significantly on the molecular pathobiology of vasooclussive crises in patients with sickle cell disease in Odisha. He has been continuously funded by the Government of India's Departments of Biotechnology (DBT), Department of Science and Technology (DST), University Grants Commission (UGC), and Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as well as Government of Odisha. He has led the Project Coordination of DST- Fund for Improvement of Science & Technology Infrastructure (FIST) and DBT-Bioinformatics Facility (BIF) of the Post Graduate Department of Biosciences and Biotechnology of Fakir Mohan University, Odisha.
